About Us

WHAT WE DO

Families grow stronger TOGETHER.

Cape Cod Children’s Place is a community-rooted nonprofit dedicated to supporting families and children across Cape Cod.

Since 1995, we’ve created safe, welcoming spaces where children can explore and caregivers can feel supported. What began as a small community effort has grown into a trusted resource — but our purpose has remained the same.

When families feel connected, children thrive.

Families don’t come to us for a program. They come for support, understanding, and connection.

Our Story

The Early Years

Cape Cod Children’s Place was founded in 1995 in response to the Lower and Outer Cape’s need for high-quality early education, care, and family support. Through a partnership with the town of Eastham, our building was created at 10 Ballwic Rd. In our early years, we operated our own early learning center while also administering funding to help working families access affordable, local child care.

Growing to Support Families

Our first formal funding for family support services soon followed – because working with children means supporting the families who care for them. With help from long-time partner Seamen’s Bank, we opened a satellite infant and toddler care center at the Wellfleet Council on Aging, expanding access to high-quality care for our community’s youngest children.

Expanding Our Services to Meet Community Needs

As our programs grew, we renovated our building to welcome infants to pre-K children. We continued listening closely to our neighbors and responding to emerging needs across the Lower and Outer Cape. Over time, our services expanded to include a peer support program for parents impacted by substance use disorder, parent-child engagement groups across 11 towns, parent education classes, tailored support groups, a home visiting program promoting equitable school readiness, individual family consultations, and free collaborative coaching for early childhood educators to help foster resilience in young children.

Highlights from 2025

In 2025, we once again turned to our community to listen and learn. Through this process, we identified several key priorities for the years ahead:

  • Expanding family support services to increase accessibility, inclusiveness, and reduce barriers
  • Investing in staff and community professionals so they have the skills and resources to best serve families
  • Creating a family hub to better coordinate support across the region

OUR MISSION

Every class, workshop, and partnership is grounded in the belief that no family should have to figure it out alone.

MISSION STATEMENT

We support families and community partners to increase their resilience, strengths, and skills so children can thrive.
